Letters, Sept. 23: ‘Keep our money at home in Canada, Justin’

WHERE’S OUR HELP?
Justin Trudeau, it seems, forgets whose money he is giving away to the world. I blame the NDP for keeping this person without any money sense of taxpayers dollars in power. Canada cannot continue to fund the world during an economic depression made in Canada by the Liberal federal government and their cronies. Canadian people, the homeless and drug addicted, need the money more but let’s not forget the military vets, always set back by fools. Time for these fools to be voted out.

TWO MORE DOWN
When I passed the roped-off crime scene Sunday morning (“Two hurt in drive-by shooting,” Sept. 19, Sun), I noted some markers down on the closed-off street, suggesting a number of rounds had been fired. I remembered a demonstration held in June of 2020, a couple blocks from the scene, where for the first time I noted “Defund the Police” signs held aloft by mostly young people. I mention this, since the report about the Sunday morning gunfire indicates that two victims, a man and a woman, were “both in their early 20s.” Why they were a target of multiple gunshots, the Sun story did not say. Readers may draw their own conclusions.

CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME
Re: Brian Lilley: Justin Trudeau to talk food security at UN as prices rise at home. Why doesn’t our infamous prime minister clean-up his backyard first and foremost prior to the global community? Seems every time Justin Trudeau tries to be a great and wise statesman in the world’s eyes, he ends up miserably falling on his face. Trudeau needs to stop being an actor on the world stage because the world aren’t applauding him, they’re laughing at him.

THANK YOU, STRANGERS
My wife and I received a very pleasant surprise Wednesday evening when we stopped into the Toad and Turtle in McKenzie Towne. We had just finished our dinner at the bar and when we asked for the bill were informed that our bill had been taken care of by the couple sitting a couple seats over from us. I would like to express to that couple how grateful we are to them. They just made our day. Yes, there still are lots of genuine people out there.

SUCH A WASTE
Eight hundred thousand dollars to replace two toilets that the city already paid $300,000 for? If my math is correct, that’s one million, one hundred thousand dollars, for two toilets. I don’t really give a tinkers damn where they say the monies are coming from, that’s a lot of crap! I’m pretty sure if you asked waste management to provide five porta-potties, painted them up real pretty and have a contract for them to service them two or three times a week, it would take 50 years or more to equal that amount.
